Eugene J. Etter

	Eugene J. Etter, 80, of DuQuoin, passed away at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.
	Eugene was a retired revenue officer for the federal government.  For the past four years he had been the Station Master at the DuQuoin Amtrak Station.  He was a member of Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in DuQuoin and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa.  He was a member of AARP, Perry County Gold Plate and the Knights of Columbus.
	He was born April 21, 1920 at Atascadero, California, the son of Edgar and Frances (Crouse) Etter.  He married Amelia Novak on August 11, 1973 at Chicago and she survives.
	He is survived by his wife of DuQuoin, Daughter- Barbara M. Etter of Chicago, Brother- Edgar R. Etter of Indio, California, Sister- Jane Frances Larson and husband Harold of Redondo Beach, California, several nieces and nephews also survive.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, one son.
	Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DuQuoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
	Friends called from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.  The Rosary was said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
	Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at DuQuoin.
